Evreux

Trips to Caen or Rouen carry an extra edge for ALM Évreux: the derby normand is the fixture supporters mark first when the Pro B calendar comes out, and results against either side tend to stick longer in memory than the league table does.

The club grew out of a district team, the Association Sportive de la Madeleine, put together in the Madeleine quarter of Évreux by Jean-Pierre Vidal in 1962. What has kept the name current since is less the first team than the players it sent elsewhere: Bruce Bowen spent a season here in 1994–95 before going on to win championships with the San Antonio Spurs, and Isaïa Cordinier signed as a teenager in 2014 on his way to being drafted into the NBA. Jeremiah Wood took a different path back rather than forward, returning to the club in 2023 and again in 2024 after his spell as Pro B's foreign MVP in 2013.

Silverware at senior level has been thin next to the club's record in its own academy, where the Coupe de France Cadets was won four times and the Espoirs championship three years running in the early 1990s. The one trophy that reached the first team came in 2022, when Évreux took the Leaders Cup Pro B; twice before that, in 2005 and 2016, they had gone all the way to the Pro B Playoffs final only to lose it, to Brest and then to Le Portel.

Home games are played in yellow and blue at the Salle Omnisports Jean Fourré, a hall of 3,400 seats that sits at the modest end of Pro B grounds but fills with enough noise on derby nights to make the away side's trip from Caen or Rouen feel longer than it is.
