Horizont Minsk 2 Women

Horizont Minsk's senior side won the European Women's Basketball League in 2020–21, the same season it took the Belarusian championship and the national cup. Horizont-2, the reserve team, exists to feed that side.

The idea is older than the team. In 1970 the trade union committee of the Horizont factory set up a basketball school, and after the Soviet Union broke up it was effectively disbanded by the mid-1990s. On 7 July 2010 the Belarusian Basketball Federation revived it, with the approval of President Alexander Lukashenko. The reserve side, Horizont-2-RCOP, was created in the same revival so that young players had somewhere to play before the first team.

Anastasiya Verameyenka shows how the two teams connect. She won bronze at EuroBasket Women 2007 and played for Belarus at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She was at Horizont in 2014–15, came back in 2020 and now works as an assistant coach. The head coach is Olga Zyuzkova. Among the current players, Alena Karasevich, born in 1994, is captain. Yana Lebedich, a centre born in 2002, is one of the youngest in the squad.

The team plays in the Premier League Women of Belarus against sides such as Victoria Grodno, Olimpia Grodno and Gomel. Its main rivalry is with BC Minsk, known in Belarusian basketball as the capital derby. The colours are white and purple, and home games are played at the Sports Complex "Horizont" on Stadionnaya Street in Minsk.
