Ilirija Ljubljana Women

Two runners-up finishes in the Slovenian Championship, in 2023/2024 and again in 2025/2026, tell only half of what Ilirijanke have been doing lately. The other half is the WABA2 League, which they won in both those seasons running, even as the domestic crown kept slipping to the final and no further. A Slovenian Cup final in 2023/2024 ended the same way, second place, and across three finals in two years the pattern held: close enough to feel it, not quite enough to take it.

The club carries more than sixty years behind it, tracing back to a Ljubljana society built around the men's side founded in 1957, though the women's section has long since built an identity of its own under the green and white. Its home is a modest one by the standards of the sport, a school gymnasium at Gimnazija Bežigrad seating 280, where a full house means something closer than distance in most arenas of this size.

Local rivalry runs through the derby with ŽKK Ježica, a fixture that carries its own weight regardless of league position, with ŽKK Triglav the other name that recurs on the fixture list. Beneath the senior side, the production line has kept working: Slovenian titles at under-17 level in 2018/2019 and at under-20 level in both 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, the kind of results that explain where a squad's next generation tends to come from.

Tina Trebec is the name most associated with that continuity, a Slovenian international who joined Ilirija in the 2016/17 season and has remained one of the players.
