Cinkarna Celje Women

In Celje, the women's basketball team plays in a school hall. The club began under the name Metka Celje in 1993. It broke away from the men's club in 1994 and became ŽKK Celje. It has carried the sponsor's name, Cinkarna, only since 2017.

The first league title came in 2000 under Željko Ciglar. Two years later Gojko Žvižaj won the club's first WABA League. Celje have won 22 Slovenian league titles, 14 of them in a row from 2012 to 2025, with the 2019/20 title awarded when the pandemic ended the season early. Damir Grgić coaches the side now.

The club has also produced players for other leagues. Ivana Dojkić went on to win a WNBA championship with the New York Liberty. Nika Barič was drafted by the Minnesota Lynx and Marica Gajić by the Washington Mystics. In 2024, the year the club marked 30 years of independent operation, it inducted 40 former players into its Hall of Fame.

The fixtures that carry extra weight are the traditional ones. ŽKK Triglav Kranj is the long-standing opponent. The meeting with ŽKK Ježica is billed in Slovenia as the "Derby Ježica".
