Mega Tbilisi

Promotion, not a league title, is what Mega Tbilisi has to show for itself: the club won the Georgian A-Liga, the country's second division, in the 2020–21 season and went up to the Superliga on the back of it. A separate claim that the side took the top flight and the Super Cup in its debut year has never been backed up outside a single source, so it sits apart from what can actually be counted.

Everyone at the club calls it by a name that has nothing to do with the city on its badge. Margveti is the nickname that has stuck to Mega Tbilisi across the sources that mention it, standing alongside the more formal Mega Basket Tbilisi.

Home games are played inside the Tbilisi Olympic Palace, in the arena built as its New Sports Palace wing, which seats 10,000 for basketball — sizeable for a club. Orange and black are the colours it plays in.

Georgian internationals Sandro Sanadze and Kakhaber Jintcharadze have carried the club's domestic identity, while players such as Christian Jones and Jalen Hill have filled out the roster.

TSU Tbilisi stands as the club's closest rival in the capital, though no fixture between the two has taken on a name of its own the way derbies elsewhere have.

Founding is where the record gets thin: a single source places it in 2015, years before the promotion campaign that actually put the club on the Superliga map, leaving open whether that date belongs to Mega Tbilisi itself or to a side that came before it.
