Kavkasia

Tbilisi has never lacked basketball tradition, but the club carrying the Kavkasia name grew out of a different idea: Caucasus International University stands behind the project, and the "scholar-athlete" arrangement still shapes how the squad is built.

Promotion came quickly. Kavkasia won the Georgian A-League in 2022, and rather than settle into the Superliga quietly, it topped the regular-season table in its very first top-flight campaign. A year later the club went further, reaching the 2023–24 final, where Kutaisi took the series 3–1. Nikoloz Gaprindashvili was named the league's MVP that same season.

Games are played at the Olympic Palace, a hall that holds 3,600 for basketball. That size has not stopped the club looking outward: for 2025–26, Kavkasia becomes the first Georgian side to enter the European North Basketball League.

At home, the rivalry is a Tbilisi affair. TSU Tbilisi carries the weight of the university game across the city, while BC Arena Tbilisi, known to many as Orbi.
