Motilones del Norte ended a fifteen-year wait in December 2024, beating Caribbean Storm Coffee 3-1 in the final of the Liga Profesional de Baloncesto Colombiano, sealed 96-80 on 17 December. The last time Cúcuta had lifted a national basketball title was under the name Cúcuta-Norte, when the club took the Copa Invitacional FCB in 2008 and 2009, back to back.

The name Motilones del Norte is recent. The club itself is not: it traces back to 1975, when it started out as Norsander, before becoming Lotería de Cúcuta and later Cúcuta-Norte. The current identity dates only to 2021.

Home games are played at the Coliseo Toto Hernández, in front of crowds capped at 5,000. The colours are red and black, rojinegro.

There is no official club website; supporters follow the team through its Facebook page instead.
