Muhldorf

Volleyball in Mühldorf am Inn began as one more branch of TSV 1860, the town's general sports club, and it took until 1979 for the sport to get its own department. What that department built over the following decades was less a senior team than a production line: Johannes Tille later won championships with Berlin Recycling Volleys, Ferdinand was named Best Libero at the 2010 World Championship, and Leonhard played on for United Volleys Rhein Main.

The men's team took longer to catch up with the academy's reputation. Promotion to the 2. Bundesliga arrived only in 2020/21, after a second-place finish in 3. Liga Ost in a season cut short. Relegation followed in 2023, but the club came straight back the next year by winning the 3. Liga outright in 2023/24. Fabian Bartsch has carried much of that stretch as long-time captain. Alejandro Kolevich took over as head coach for the 2024/25 season.

Matches are played at the Nutz-Arena, where crowds have sometimes been counted in the dozens rather than the thousands — a reminder of how local this level of the sport still is. ASV Dachau turns up often enough as an opponent but without that same weight attached to it.
