PeKa Women

PeKa go into another Naisten Korisliiga season as the team every rival in Kotka's league has to solve first.

The club traces back to Kymin Palloilijat, founded in 1945 in Kymi before the merger with Kotka took the name Peli-Karhut in 1958.

Ten Finnish championships now sit in the cabinet, stretching from 2006–07 through to the most recent double, with six Suomen Cup wins built into the same stretch of dominance.

Daisha Simmons was named Finals MVP in 2018, the kind of import performance Kotka has since tried to repeat — Lauren Heard took the same award in the 2026 finals. Linda-Lotta Lehtoranta's run to Player of the Year in 2021 belongs to the club's own production line rather than an import ledger, a distinction PeKa's supporters tend to draw carefully.

White and blue still play out in front of 1,600 seats at the Steveco Areena, a hall too small to disguise a poor night but loud enough on a good one to settle a tight fourth quarter. With the league gold defended once already, the cup rounds now carry the weight of proving last season was not the peak.
