Scafati

That neighbour is Napoli Basket, and the fixture between them is the Derby Campano.

The roots go back to 1949, when Catholic Action students formed a team called Silvio Pellico. It merged with Savoia in 1955 to make Scafatese Basket, and the present entity took shape in 1969. What carried it up the divisions was continuity in the office: Aniello Longobardi became president in 1986, and promotions to Serie B2 in 1995 and Serie B1 in 1998 came on his watch.

The night the club is remembered for came in 2000. Scafati beat Baltur Cento in overtime to reach Serie A2, under coach Massimo Mangano, who died of a stroke shortly afterwards.

Six years later Scafati won Serie A2 outright and went up to the top flight, Serie A, for the first time, taking the LegaDue Cup in the same season. The stay lasted from 2006 to 2008, and relegation followed. In 2013 the club gave up its professional title and dropped to National Division B, swapping places with Trapani. It was back in Serie A2 in 2014.

A second promotion to Serie A came in 2022, when Scafati beat Cantù in the playoff final. Luigi Datome is among the players who have worn the yellow and blue.
