Tarbes

Home games against Toulouse Basketball Club are billed as the derby du Sud-Ouest, and the fixture carries weight because Tarbes's own club was itself built from a rivalry: Union Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées Basket came together in 2010 out of a merger between Union Basket Tarbes and Basket Club Lourdais, two sides that had previously been on opposite ends of the same regional scene.

UTLPB has climbed rather than sat still since that merger. A title in NM3 in 2012 took the club up to NM2, and a second promotion the very next year, winning NM2, put it into NM1, within three seasons of its own founding. It has stayed there since without adding a national trophy: the club's honours list reads Néant. The closest it has come domestically was a run to the Round of 16 in the Coupe de France in 2016, the same year it reached the NM1 quarter-finals, a stage it repeated in 2024 and bettered with a semi-final appearance in 2017.

Individual recognition arrived in 2026, when Alexis Yetna was named MVP of NM1. The team plays in red and yellow, a scheme that has nothing to do with the purple and white of Tarbes Gespe Bigorre, the women's club that shares the same Palais des Sports.

What holds the club's identity together is still that old opposition between the two towns whose clubs no longer exist separately: Tarbes against Lourdes, folded into one shirt in 2010.
