Teuta Durrës

The story of the club begins with a group in Durrës naming their side after Uranus. The name did not last: within two years the club had become Sport Klub Durrës, and by 1930 it had settled on Teuta, after the Illyrian queen, a choice that stuck for good.

Domestic success came in two distinct waves. The Superliga title arrived in 1993–94, then again in 2020–21, nearly three decades apart, while the Albanian Cup went to Durrës four times, most recently in 2019–20, when Teuta beat Tirana 2–0 in the final. Each cup run brought a different opponent in the final — Lushnja twice, then Dinamo Tirana, then Tirana itself.

Europe has been a harder stage. Teuta reached the semi-finals of the Balkans Cup in 1992–93 and, twenty years later, got past Dacia Chișinău on away goals in the first qualifying round of the 2013–14 Europa League.

Locally, the fixture that matters most is against Erzeni Shijak, still spoken of as the Derby of Durrës.
