Timberwolves

Fürth already had its footballing identity settled long before a group of enthusiasts decided the city needed a team that threw a different kind of ball, and in 1999 the Franken Timberwolves took shape to fill that gap in Bavaria's American football scene. The Waldwölfe, as they are known locally, spent their early years proving the idea could work, and the Regionalliga Süd title that season did just that.

They repeated the feat in 2006, a second Regionalliga Süd championship that confirmed the club as more than a one-off curiosity in a region still dominated by round-ball football. A perfect season followed in 2010, when the Timberwolves went through the Verbandsliga Bayern Nord unbeaten, and promotions to the Bayernliga in 2011 and again in 2019 kept them moving through the tiers below the top-flight GFL.

Home games are played at the MTV Stadeln Sportgelände, and the team takes the field in black.
