The women's section did not appear until 1996, twelve years after the Üsküdar Municipality had already put its name to the wider Üsküdar Belediyespor project in Istanbul. The handball team took a season to find its feet in the domestic championship before stepping up to the Turkish Women's Handball Super League in 1997–98.

The championship arrived first, in 2003–04, then again in 2010–11. The Turkish Women's Handball Cup came to Üsküdar BSK three times, in 2004, 2012 and 2013, and the 2012 season also brought the Super Cup.

Names have passed through the squad rather than stayed fixed to it. Yasemin Şahin and Serpil Çapar wore the shirt on their way into the Turkish national team.

Matches are played at the Haldun Alagaş Sports Hall in Ümraniye, a ground that holds 2,468 people.
