Annecy

The Patinoire Jean-Régis came first, and the hockey followed it. The rink opened, and on 1 April 1972 the club's ice hockey section was created around it. Until then the club, founded in 1968, had been an association built on ice luge. Nobody has settled whether the building holds 1,650 or 1,800 seats.

Annecy have won the third-tier Division 2 four times, in 1992, 2005, 2012 and 2017, and each title took them up to the Ligue Magnus, the top flight. They had dropped out of the Ligue Magnus in 2015, came back up two years later, and went down again in 2018. The rink has seen both.

The club has produced players as well as promotions. Thomas Thiry began his career in Annecy, moved to Genève-Servette HC, and played for France at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Alain Bozon, who played for the French national team, later worked with the club's juniors.

The nickname is Les Chevaliers du Lac, the Knights of the Lake, and the colours are red, white and black. There is no named derby for Annecy. The regional label "Derby savoyard" belongs to Chambéry's matches, and "Derby alpin" is used for a football fixture between FC Annecy and Grenoble.
