Compiègne

Hockey grew out of that rink: the Club Compiégnois de Patinage et Hockey ran skating and hockey together for two decades, until the hockey section broke away on 25 December 1991 as the Hockey Club Compiégnois. The city's heraldry gave the team its nickname, Les Lions de Compiègne, and its blue and yellow colours.

The rink in the Mercières business zone holds around 360 spectators.

That role defined the club for much of its life. Fabien Kazarine, a forward trained in Compiègne, went on to play for Amiens, Lyon and Chamonix, and won the Jean-Pierre-Graff Trophy as the league's best prospect in 2015. Louis Olive also began there before joining Amiens and Dunkerque.

The results were modest and came mostly in the lower divisions. Promotion to Division 2 followed a second-place finish in the Division 3 national pool in 1996, and the club stayed at that level until 2000. It has not been back since.
