Toulon

In July 2013 the Boucaniers de Toulon were declared in cessation of payment. The administrative consequence followed at once: the club dropped back to Division 3, the level it had left only three years earlier. Division 2 had come on the back of the 2010 Division 3 title, and it lasted two seasons, 2010–11 and 2011–12.

Antony Chamard became president that same year and set about rebuilding what was left. The club had been in the national championship since 1987–88, starting in Division 3, and had already gone up and down more than once: promoted in 1989, relegated in 1991, back up in 1999, down again in 2005. The 2013 collapse was the most severe of those falls, because it came from off the ice.

Two people carried the continuity through it. Richard Brodeur, a Québécois forward born in 1967, played for the team from 1989 to 2011 and also served as head coach; his sons Steven and O'Brian later took over coaching roles. Jozef Držík, a Slovak international defenceman, came in 2004, left in 2006, returned in 2009 and stayed until 2017. He later became head coach and general manager.

The club then spent a decade in Division 3, playing at the Patinoire de La Garde, which seats 1,600 and is also known as Patinoire Abel Gance. Its fixture with the Aigles de Nice, the "Derby du Sud-Est", is the one that draws the region's attention.

In 2025–26 the Boucaniers finished as vice-champions of France in Division 3, which earned promotion to Division 2 for 2026–27. President Frédéric Foray and head coach Jacek Szopiński now have that first season back at the higher level to plan for.
