In the UEFA Nations League game on 26 September 2026, Albania beat Belarus 2:0. Match numbers: shots on target 3:2, corners 5:2.
Match report
Albania and Belarus met on Friday evening in the opening round of League C in the UEFA Nations League. The hosts took all three points with a 2-0 victory at home.
And here's the thing about the first goal — it came from a penalty. Kristjan Asllani converted in the thirty-fourth minute to give Albania the lead, and it was the breakthrough they needed after a tense opening spell.
Just before half-time, Ernest Muci doubled the advantage in the forty-fifth minute plus two. Belarus had made a change at the break, bringing on two players, but the momentum had already shifted in Albania's favour.
We gave: home win, confidence 40%. The prediction came true. By then the yellow cards had started accumulating — Ivan Tikhomirov and Artem Kontsevoy both went to the referee, and Evgeni Malashevich followed shortly after. The game tightened as Belarus tried to find a way back in.
Albania kept possession at 54 per cent and registered 90 attacks, but their shot accuracy was just 15 per cent with only three shots on target. Belarus created nothing like the big chances their opponents did — zero compared to three. The expected goals figures tell the story: 1.83 for Albania against 0.57 for the visitors.
Both teams started the tournament on zero points and zero games played, so this result sets the tone for what comes next. Albania move into first place, while Belarus sit second with a game to play and a point to make up.
