Adnane Abid

Adnane Abid stands out on Standard Liège's pitch first for his frame: at 164 cm. That has not stopped him becoming a regular starter for the Liège side after his move from Patro Eisden Maasmechelen in July 2025, a transfer reported at around €1.3 million.

Born in Verviers, Abid came through the youth ranks at KRC Genk, playing for the club's under-19 side before being promoted to the first-team squad in July 2022. A knee injury sidelined him for several months that summer, and for the following two seasons he was mostly restricted to Jong Genk, the club's reserve side in the Challenger Pro League, without ever leaving on loan. In July 2024 he departed Genk on a free transfer for Patro Eisden Maasmechelen, where he spent the 2024–2025 season before his move to Standard Liège.

That switch has proved productive. Across the 2025–2026 season, Abid made around 35 to 36 appearances for Standard in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists, with two goals and five assists coming in the Pro League. He was used mainly as a starter, though he also came off the bench in matches against Dender and Antwerp. Standard's cup run ended in the last 16, where they were beaten 3-2 by FCV Dender EH.

Abid has represented Belgium at under-19 level, earning three caps, though he has yet to feature for the senior national team. He has also spoken of an interest in one day representing Morocco.
