Aimar Hazar Sher

Aimar Sher became the youngest player to make an Allsvenskan debut for Hammarby. He had joined Hammarby's academy in 2013 after starting out at Mälarhöjdens IK and Enskede IK, and he won the under-17 Swedish championship with the club in the same year as his senior debut.

Born in Kirkuk, he moved to Sweden at the age of four. He represented Swedish youth teams, and later held both Iraqi and Swedish nationality.

The Svenska Cupen win of 2020–21 is the honour most closely tied to his Hammarby years. The final against BK Häcken went to a penalty shootout, and Sher scored from the spot. Before that he had spent a loan spell at IK Frej in 2020.

In August 2021 he moved to Spezia Calcio in Serie A. Most reports put the fee at around €1.5 million. His time in Italy did not settle into a regular place: he was loaned to FC Groningen in 2023, and that September his Spezia contract was ended by mutual consent.

He signed for Sarpsborg 08 as a free agent in January 2024.

His international path was the biggest change of direction. FIFA approved his switch from Sweden to Iraq in February 2025, and he made his senior debut for Iraq that year. He started a 2026 World Cup qualifier against the UAE in November 2025 and has won eight caps. Sher was named in the Iraq squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
