About the player
Anders Hiim's route to Sarpsborg 08 ran through a stretch in which he stepped away from football altogether. He had spent 2018 to 2021 in the youth teams at Viking, playing for the G16 and G19 sides, but never made a senior appearance there. In 2021 he left the club and tried military service as a paratrooper.
He came back through Bogafjell IL, the local club where he had started out as a boy, and played twice for their senior side. That was enough to bring a contract at Sandnes Ulf later that year. There he became a regular starter and then captain, and in 2021 to August 2023 he made 46 appearances and scored once.
In August 2023 he moved to Sarpsborg 08 on a contract running to the end of the 2027 season. Neither club published the fee. By March 2025 he had made 41 appearances for the club.
Hiim has also played for Norway at youth level. He won one cap for the under-20s in 2022 and two for the under-21s, in 2023 and 2024. His under-21 debut came on 15 June 2023 against Scotland. He has not yet been capped by the senior national team.
