About the player
Armando Obispo made his debut for Jong PSV in 2016 before stepping up to the first team the following year, with a loan spell at Vitesse in the 2019–2020 season.
At PSV he has become a fixture of a side that has dominated Dutch football, winning the Eredivisie in 2017–18, 2023–24, 2024–25 and 2025–26, alongside the KNVB Cup in 2021–22 and 2022–23 and the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2021, 2022 and 2025.
Obispo's international story has taken an unusual turn. He came up through the Dutch youth ranks from under-15 to under-21 level and played for the Netherlands under-19 side at the 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. In 2025, however, he switched his allegiance to Curaçao, and by June 2026 had earned nine caps for his new national side without finding the net. The switch paid off in the biggest way possible: Obispo was named in the Curaçao squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the tournament marking the island nation's first-ever appearance on football's biggest stage, and he featured in three of their matches there.
