PSV dismantle Utrecht in eight-goal away victory
PSV Eindhoven produced a comprehensive display at Galgenwaard, running out 6-1 winners against Utrecht in the Eredivisie's fourth round. The Dutch giants took control early and never looked back, with goals from Ryan van Bommel, Gio Til, Mauro Junior, Sven Mijnans and Sergio Dest confirming the result. Utrecht, who had drawn one and lost three of their opening four matches, were comprehensively outplayed on their own turf.
PSV started brightly, taking the lead through van Bommel in the eleventh minute after Stepanov had given the hosts an early chance of their own in the sixth. The visitors dominated possession from the outset, and Til doubled the advantage just before the break with a well-taken goal. Utrecht showed little threat in reply, their solitary shot on target coming from Stepanov's earlier effort.
The second half saw PSV extend their dominance further, Mauro Junior adding a third in the seventy-sixth minute. Mijnans had already missed a penalty in the eighty-sixth minute before converting his second attempt moments later, and Til completed his brace to make it five. Dest then added two more goals in stoppage time, bringing his personal tally to two in a match that had become a routine exercise for the away side.
