About the player
Áron Csongvai grew up in the Vasas SC academy in Budapest before moving across the city to Újpest in 2016. He worked his way through the club's reserve side and made his senior debut for Újpest in January 2020, following a brief loan at Vác FC. Two seasons later he was handed the captain's armband at Újpest, a role he held from 2022, and in between he won the Magyar Kupa with the club in the 2020–21 season.
In February 2023 he moved to Fehérvár FC, where he again wore the captain's armband. Two years on, in February 2025, he joined AIK Fotboll on a contract running to December 2027, a transfer that Fehérvár and AIK both put at €500,000. He featured for AIK through the 2025 Allsvenskan season.
Csongvai's rise had already caught the attention of the Hungary national team. He collected eight caps for the U21 side between 2021 and 2022, and on 6 June 2025 he made his senior debut, coming on as a substitute in a 0–2 friendly defeat to Sweden. Four days later he won his second cap, again from the bench, in a 2–1 friendly win over Azerbaijan. He was named in Hungary's squad for the game against Ireland in September 2025, though he did not take to the pitch.
