B. Mounongo

Believe Munongo was born in Metz. He came through local sides CO Metz Bellecroix and UL Plantières before joining the FC Metz academy in February 2023, working his way up to FC Metz B in the 2025–2026 season. A professional debut in the Coupe de France in January 2026, followed a few weeks later by his first Ligue 1 appearance. That Ligue 1 debut, on 25 January 2026 at 16 years, two months and two days old, made him the youngest player to feature in the competition that season, taking the record from Brian Madjo and placing him among the ten youngest players in Ligue 1 history, level with Rayan Cherki.

Munongo plays as a central midfielder and is comfortable with either foot. He signed his first professional contract with Metz in July 2026, running until June 2029.

His progress has run in parallel at international level. He has been capped more than 20 times for France's under-17s, was part of the squad that reached the final of the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and played at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He captained the France U17 side to the semi-finals of the European Championship, where they lost to Belgium. He has also featured for the under-16s, scoring once in six appearances in 2024, and has three caps for the under-18s.
