Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla

Born in Abidjan, he had already carried Canadian youth honours, being named Canadian U-17 Male Player of the Year in 2014 and Canadian U-20 Male Player of the Year in 2016, before that MLS bow.

His form led to a move to FC Barcelona B in January 2018 on a three-year contract carrying a release clause that reportedly rose as high as €75 million. He made 30 appearances for the Catalan side's reserves and won the UEFA Youth League with Barcelona's youth setup that season, though a loan to Albacete in Spain's Segunda División brought only two appearances. A further loan took him back to CF Montréal in 2019, and he signed with the club permanently the following January.

Tabla left North America again in 2022, joining Atlético Ottawa in the Canadian Premier League, where he scored six goals in 27 league appearances and helped the club win the CPL Shield, finishing as a finalist for the league's Player of the Year award. He also led the CPL in dribbles completed that season. In January 2023 he moved to Turkish side Manisa FK for a fee widely reported as a Canadian Premier League record, scoring four goals in 21 appearances before his contract was ended by mutual consent. He returned to Atlético Ottawa on a free transfer in January 2024, signing a new three-year deal.

At international level, Tabla has earned two caps for Canada, debuting as a substitute in a 2019–20 CONCACAF Nations League qualifier against Dominica, and represented the Canada under-23 side at the 2020 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship.
