Atlético Ottawa

Atlético Madrid founded Atlético Ottawa as its Canadian affiliate on 29 January 2020, built to compete in the Canadian Premier League. Mista, formerly of Valencia and the Spain national team, took the job of first head coach and general manager, and the shirt he put the team out in — red and white vertical stripes, blue as a third colour, drawn from Federal Red, Blanc d'Ottawa and Rideau Blue — has stayed since. Supporters call themselves the Ottleti.

The club plays its home matches at TD Place Stadium, where the football configuration runs from 6,419 seats up to 24,000 depending on which stands are opened; 24,000 is the number most commonly quoted. Under Carlos González, Ottawa topped the regular-season table there to win the CPL Shield in 2022, with Ollie Bassett named the league's best player that year. Three years later the club finished second in the table but won the play-offs anyway, taking the North Star Cup in 2025 for its first league championship.

The match against York United carries the Ontario Derby name, and fixtures with Forge FC of Hamilton have carried similar weight, the two clubs having traded the province's bragging rights since Ottawa joined the league. Samuel Salter holds the club's scoring record, 37 goals between 2023 and 2025, and Ballou Tabla, a Canada international, has made more appearances than anyone else to wear the shirt, over 120.
