About the player
Casper Nielsen grew up playing for his hometown club, Esbjerg fB, joining its youth ranks in 2009 and making his senior debut in 2012. He stayed there until 2017, winning the Danish Cup with the club in the 2012–13 season and being named Esbjerg's Goal of the Year in 2014. From Esbjerg he moved on to Odense BK, before a switch abroad to Union SG in 2019.
At Union SG, Nielsen helped the Brussels club win promotion to the Belgian top flight and then finish as runners-up in the Pro League in the 2021–22 season. He went on to win the Belgian Super Cup and the Pro League title in 2023–24, adding the Belgian Cup in 2024–25. In July 2022, Club Brugge signed him for a fee of €7 million. In July 2025 he moved on again, joining Standard Liège for €700,000.
Nielsen came through the Danish youth international system, collecting 22 caps and four goals at U-21 level and featuring for the U-23 side at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He made his debut for Denmark on 29 March 2022, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Serbia. As of early 2025, that appearance remains his only cap for the national team.
