Demetri Kareem Mitchell

Demetri Mitchell joined Leyton Orient in June 2025 on a free transfer, having negotiated the contract himself with the help of AI tools.

He came through the Manchester United academy, which he joined in 2007 and stayed with for a decade. He made one senior appearance for the club, in May 2017, and was named Denzil Haroun Reserve Player of the Year for 2017–18. Two loan spells at Heart of Midlothian followed. He won Man of the Match on his debut there, in the Edinburgh derby. His second spell, which ran into February 2019, ended early because of injury.

At youth level he won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship with England in 2014. In 2017 he started the final for the England Under-20 side that won the Toulon Tournament.

Blackpool signed him on a free transfer in September 2020, once his United contract had run out. He was in the squad that won the League One play-offs in 2021 and went up to the Championship. Spells at Hibernian and then Exeter City followed. At Exeter he scored the winner against Premier League side Luton Town in the EFL Cup third round in 2023.

On 31 October 2023 he tore an anterior cruciate ligament in a Carabao Cup match against Middlesbrough and was out for 364 days. He came off the bench against Bristol Rovers in the EFL Trophy on 29 October 2024 and scored the winning goal.

In May 2025 Jamaica included him in a preliminary 60-man squad for the Gold Cup. He did not make the final roster.
