Diego Martín Zabala Morales

Vélez Sarsfield took him on loan to Argentina in 2016. He scored six goals in 34 appearances during that spell, though the club chose not to trigger the option to buy. A free transfer to Unión de Santa Fe followed a year later, and it was there that the midfielder had his most productive scoring spell, contributing 11 goals in 58 matches over two seasons.

Rosario Central paid roughly $1.3 million for 80% of his rights in 2019, and Zabala went on to play in the Copa Sudamericana during his three seasons at the club. He returned home to Uruguay in 2022, joining Nacional, where he won the Primera División title that same year and added two Torneo Intermedio titles, in 2022 and 2024.

A move to Brazil's Série B with Amazonas FC in early 2025 brought him a Campeonato Amazonense title, and he scored the winning goal in the final against Nacional FC. He left the Brazilian club in November 2025 before signing for Liverpool Montevideo in January 2026, wearing the number 22 shirt for his new side. Despite a career spanning clubs in Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil, Zabala has not represented Uruguay at senior or youth international level.
