Voitsberg's forward line has a new top scorer this season: Fabian Schubert has struck 43 goals in 29 appearances in the Austrian 2. Liga, leading the division. In July 2026 he opened his Austrian Cup account for the club with a hat-trick inside ten minutes against DSV Leoben.
Schubert's move to Voitsberg followed a mutually agreed termination of his contract at TSV 1860 Munich in July 2025, where he had managed only two goals in 24 games in the German 3. Liga. It brought him back to the lower Austrian tiers. At VST Völkermarkt he scored 56 goals in 102 appearances, and at Blau-Weiß Linz he was the standout forward of the 2020–21 2. Liga campaign, finishing as the division's top scorer and its Best Player.
Between those spells, Schubert's career touched the Bundesliga and the Swiss top flight. He scored twice in 13 games for SV Ried, drew a blank in six appearances for Sturm Graz's first team while contributing 12 goals for the reserve side, and managed 10 goals in 59 appearances for FC St. Gallen. A tibia and fibula fracture in his right leg in September 2022 disrupted that spell in Switzerland, though he still shared the Swiss Cup top scorer honour that season.
Schubert holds an Austrian Cup winner's medal from 2018 with Sturm Graz, though he did not play in the final against Red Bull Salzburg. At 1.94 metres tall and playing right-footed, his scoring record has twice been the best in the league.
