Georg Strauch

Georg Strauch spent four years on the fringes of the 1. FC Köln first-team squad without ever making a competitive appearance for the senior side. Named in the Bundesliga squad four times and in the UEFA Europa Conference League squad five times between 2021 and 2025, the midfielder never got the call onto the pitch itself. A cruciate ligament injury suffered in the summer of 2021 played its part in slowing that progression at a stage when a breakthrough might otherwise have come.

His football education began at FC Hennef 05 before he moved into the Köln academy, working through the U15, U17 and U19 sides. That youth spell produced the high points of his career so far: in the 2017/18 season he won the German A-Juniors Championship and the German A-Juniors Cup with Köln's youth team. From there he settled into Köln's second string, turning out in the Regionalliga West and serving as vice-captain, a role that reflected his standing within the group even as the step up to the Bundesliga side kept eluding him.

In July 2025, Strauch left Köln on a free transfer and joined SC Fortuna Köln, swapping the club he had represented at every level since his youth for a fresh start across the city. A right-footed midfielder, he arrives at Fortuna Köln with senior football experience but still searching for his first taste of first-team competitive action.
