About the player
Gonçalo Tabuaço came through the youth ranks at FC Porto before spells at Paços de Ferreira and Vitória SC, then brief stints with Beira-Mar and Portimonense. He spent the 2020–21 season with Leixões' under-23 side before making his senior debut in 2021, when he signed for Estrela da Amadora on a free transfer and made 21 league appearances. That first professional season ended with promotion to the Primeira Liga, Estrela coming through the play-offs against opposition that included Marítimo, the club he now plays for.
A season later he moved on a free transfer to B-SAD, where he was a regular presence between the posts, making 32 league appearances. In July 2023 he left Portugal for the first time, joining CD Lugo in Spain's Primera Federación, where he started 31 league matches and added three appearances in the Copa del Rey. That run of games in Spain preceded another free transfer, to Marítimo in July 2024.
Tabuaço has represented Portugal at under-17, under-18 and under-21 level, though he has not yet been capped by the senior side. Standing at 188 cm and right-footed, he has played for clubs in Portugal and Spain before arriving at Marítimo.
