About the player
Romain Correia was born in Castres, France. He came through the Vitória Guimarães youth system and spent three seasons with the club's reserve side, making 46 appearances in LigaPro and the Campeonato de Portugal without ever featuring for the senior team. A loan at Sporting Braga during the 2019/2020 season briefly widened his experience, followed by a spell at Hércules CF in 2021.
That year also brought his international recognition: as part of the Portugal squad that won the 2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, Correia was named to the Team of the Tournament, adding to caps collected at U18 and U20 level.
His move to FC Porto in July 2021 put him inside one of the country's biggest clubs. Three seasons as a regular starter for FC Porto B yielded 67 appearances and three goals in Liga Portugal 2, while the first-team involvement stayed limited to a registered squad member who picked up winners' medals for the 2021–22 Liga Portugal and Taça de Portugal without playing a competitive minute for the senior side.
