About the player
Josh Bowler's career has been defined by moves. Everton signed him from Queens Park Rangers in July 2017 for a reported £4.25 million, after a single Championship appearance for QPR. Nottingham Forest paid an estimated £3–4 million for him in September 2022.
At Everton he never played a first-team league game. He did win the Premier League Cup with the under-23s in 2018–19. His first extended run of senior football came on loan at Hull City in 2019–20, where he made 28 league appearances and scored once.
Blackpool gave him the most settled spell of his early career. He joined on a one-year deal in June 2021 and made 49 appearances, scoring nine goals.
He spent 2022–23 at Olympiacos, where he played four times, and returned to Blackpool in 2023 for 18 appearances and two goals. His busiest loan came at Cardiff City in 2023–24: 38 appearances and five goals. Preston North End (10 appearances in 2024–25) and Luton Town (eight in 2025) followed.
His Forest contract was ended by mutual consent on 1 September 2025. He signed a two-year contract with Blackpool the same day. In 2025–26 he made 28 League One appearances for them and scored twice.
Across his senior career Bowler has made about 209 appearances and scored 21 goals. His only international appearance came for England at under-18 level.
