About the player
James Golding was part of the Southend United squad that won the 2025–26 Isuzu FA Trophy.
Golding spent eight years in the youth system at AFC Wimbledon, from 2012 to 2020. He then moved to Oxford's academy. He was handed a senior debut in October 2021, before he had signed professional terms, and put pen to paper on his first professional contract the following March.
His first spell was at Banbury United, from January to April 2022. Dartford followed in August 2023, and a month later he joined Maidenhead United for the first time. He returned to Maidenhead in September 2024 and stayed until May 2025.
In August 2025 he moved to Crewe Alexandra, where he stayed until January 2026. Oxford then brought him back, and in February 2026 he rejoined Southend, where he is still on loan.
