Cameron Mark Thomas Brannagan

On 29 January 2022, Cameron Brannagan scored four penalties in one match, all in a 7–2 win for Oxford United over Gillingham. No player in English league history had done it before. They were also the first successful penalties of his senior career.

Brannagan came through the Liverpool academy and signed his first professional contract in 2013. He made his senior debut in 2015 and played nine first-team games for the club before leaving: three in the Premier League, three in the FA Cup, one in the League Cup and two in the Europa League. He did not score. In January 2017 he went on loan to Fleetwood Town for the rest of that season and played 13 times.

Oxford signed him on 11 January 2018 on a deal of three and a half years. It was there that his career took shape. In his first full season he was voted the club's Players' Player of the Year for 2018–19. His best individual year came in 2021–22, when he took both the club's Player of the Year award and the Supporters' Player of the Year award.

Outside the club, his peers picked him for the PFA League One Team of the Year three times: in 2019–20, 2021–22 and 2023–24. The last of those seasons ended with Oxford winning the League One play-offs and going up to the Championship, with Brannagan a key figure in the side.

Before Oxford, he had played for England at youth level. He won two caps for the Under-18s in 2014 and two for the Under-20s in 2015.
