Jonas Mayer

Jonas Mayer's path to the Ried first team ran through the club's own academy. Born in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer, he played youth football at FC Pinzgau Saalfelden before joining Ried's setup in the 2018/19 season. Two years in the reserve side at SV Ried II, where he scored once in 37 appearances, prepared him for a senior Bundesliga debut in September 2022, and he went on to become a regular starter in midfield.

That run of appearances fed into Ried's title-winning 2. Liga campaign in 2024/25, which returned the club to the top flight, and Mayer signed a contract extension in January 2024 that kept him at the club through to the summer of 2026. He played once more for Ried in the Bundesliga, against LASK in August 2026, before moving on loan to FC Blau-Weiß Linz for the 2026/27 season, a deal that includes a buy-back option for Ried. He had made two appearances in the 2. Liga for his new side by early September.

On the international stage, Mayer has moved steadily up through Austria's youth ranks, from five caps at U18 level in 2021 through a U19 appearance the following year to a regular place in the U21 side since his debut in 2025. He set up a goal for Austria's U21s in a European Championship qualifier against Belgium in November 2025.
