BVB Linz saw off Admira Wacker 3-0 at the Hofmann Personal Stadion in the seventh round of the Austrian 2. Liga on Friday evening. The hosts opened the scoring early through D. Madritsch before J. Collmann and E. Weinhauer added second-half goals to seal the result.
Madritsch struck in the eighth minute to put Linz ahead, and the visitors showed little urgency to respond. Admira won possession more often — 52 per cent to Linz's 48 — but that control meant little when the visitors failed to test the goalkeeper enough. By then Linz were already comfortable, and they extended their lead when Collmann netted in the sixty-sixth minute.
Collmann's goal was followed immediately by a yellow card for Admira's T. Gemicibasi, and the visitors grew more fragmented as the half wore on. Weinhauer capped the scoring in the eighty-sixth minute, and Linz had done enough to deserve the three points. The hosts registered seven shots on target compared with five for Admira, and their accuracy — 58 per cent — told the story better than possession figures.
Linz sit top of the table with 15 points from six matches, five victories and a single defeat. Admira remain ninth on nine points after three wins and three losses. The gap between them is now six points, and the hosts will make life awkward for the visitors going forward.
