Simon Pirkl

Simon Pirkl was part of the Blau-Weiß Linz side that won the Austrian 2. Liga in 2022/23 and earned promotion to the Bundesliga. He was described as instrumental in that season and made 31 appearances, where he is used as a left-back or left wing-back. Some outlets, including kicker and Abseits.at, list him as a midfielder because of that versatility.

He joined the youth setup at Wacker Tirol, later Wacker Innsbruck, in 2005 and spent six years there before moving to the AKA Tirol academy in 2011. His senior career began at Wacker Innsbruck II and the first team, and he stayed with the club until 2019.

The years that followed were spent moving between Austrian second-tier clubs. Pirkl went on loan to SC Austria Lustenau in the first half of 2018, and Lustenau signed him permanently at the end of 2019. In February 2020 he moved to SV Horn, where he stayed until June 2021.

Linz was where he settled. In July 2024 he extended his contract until 30 June 2026, and the title-winning year sits in the middle of that spell.

In July 2026 Pirkl left for SV Austria Salzburg, who signed him for the 2026/27 season.
