About the player
Kwadwo Baah scored two minutes after coming on for his Watford debut. It was August 2024, an EFL Cup tie, and Milton Keynes Dons lost 5–0.
His route there was unusual. Baah spent four years in Crystal Palace's youth system before being released at 14. Two years earlier, as a 13-year-old ballboy at a Palace game, he had a confrontation with a Stoke City player that spread widely online. After Palace he moved to Kinetic Academy, made one appearance for Whyteleafe in August 2019, and a month later signed a scholarship with Rochdale.
Rochdale gave him his first extended run in senior football. He made 37 league appearances and scored three goals. Two of those came in a brace against Charlton Athletic, which earned him the EFL Young Player of the Month award for February 2021. Watford agreed a £125,000 compensation fee that April, and the move went through in May.
Watford then sent him out to gain experience. In 2022–23 he was on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 2. Bundesliga and played seven times. The following season he went to Burton Albion in League One, where he made 20 league appearances and scored twice.
At youth international level he has represented both Germany and England. He played four times for Germany's U19 side, scoring twice, and won the Four Nations Tournament with them in 2021. He has also played once for England at U18. He has no senior caps, and has said he is open to representing Ghana in future.
By January 2026 he had made 46 league appearances for Watford and scored five goals.
