About the player
Kaj Sierhuis was born in Athens, and although he holds dual Dutch and Greek nationality.
In the 2016–17 season he finished as the UEFA Youth League's top scorer with ten goals, and Jong Ajax won the Eerste Divisie title the following year.
A loan to FC Groningen brought 9 goals in 33 Eredivisie matches. His time there did not translate to league goals — 41 appearances without scoring — though he found the net three times in four cup matches and featured in the Europa League. A loan back to Heracles Almelo yielded four goals in 18 league games before a brief spell with Reims' second team.
It was at Fortuna Sittard, from 2023, that Sierhuis became a regular scoring threat, netting 25 goals in 72 Eredivisie appearances despite a serious knee injury in May 2024 interrupting his run. He left as a free agent when his contract expired and signed for NEC Nijmegen, where he has already scored twice in four league appearances and played three Champions League matches.
