About the player
Kiernan Connolly's route into first-team football has run almost entirely through loan spells away from Colchester United. The London-born forward, who came through Barking Abbey School, spent his first season as a senior pro out at Maldon & Tiptree, getting a taste of competitive football before returning to sign permanently with Colchester.
His breakthrough at Colchester itself came in August 2025, when he made his first-team debut, but the club has continued to farm him out for regular minutes rather than keep him on the bench.
From there he moved to Dagenham & Redbridge, initially managing six appearances without scoring between February and March 2026. A second loan spell followed the same month, and this time he found the net twice in another six outings. Between the loan moves, Connolly has also been a regular scorer for Colchester's under-21 side in the Professional Development League and the Premier League Cup.
At senior level with Colchester, his involvement remains limited to two appearances in League Two and the EFL Cup.
