Lazar Vujadin Samardžić

Lazar Samardžić was born in Berlin and came through the Hertha BSC academy, which he joined in 2009. He made his senior debut for Hertha in the 2019–20 season, and in 2019 he won the Bronze Fritz Walter Medal at U17 level. Germany capped him at every youth level from U16 to U21, but in 2023 he switched his international allegiance to Serbia, making his senior debut against Lithuania. He has since earned 28 caps for Serbia, scoring his only goal against Austria in the UEFA Nations League play-offs, and he was part of the Serbia squad at Euro 2024.

His club career took him from Berlin to Leipzig in September 2020, where he signed a five-year contract with RB Leipzig. He featured seven times in the 2020–21 season as the club reached the DFB-Pokal final, though he did not play in the final itself. A year later, in August 2021, he joined Udinese, where he became a regular in Serie A, making 93 league appearances and scoring 13 goals across three seasons. That form earned him a nomination for the Golden Boy award in 2022.

In August 2024, Samardžić moved to Atalanta on loan with an obligation to buy, and the deal was made permanent in June 2025 when the club activated the purchase option. As part of the arrangement, Hertha BSC received a share of the fee through a sell-on clause.
