Leroy Aziz Sané

Leroy Sané grew up in Essen and came through the youth ranks at Wattencheid 09, Bayer 04 and Schalke 04, making his professional debut for Schalke in 2014. Two years later, in August 2016, Manchester City paid a fee reported at around €55 million for the winger. At City he won two league titles, two EFL Cups, an FA Cup and two Community Shields, and in 2017–18 he was named the PFA Young Player of the Year. That rise was interrupted in August 2019, when he suffered a torn ACL in the Community Shield and missed most of the following season.

In July 2020 Sané returned to Germany, joining Bayern Munich for a base fee of around €49 million, rising to €60 million with add-ons. Over five seasons at the Allianz Arena he won four Bundesliga titles, two DFB-Pokals and three DFL-Supercups. His contract expired on 30 June 2025, and on 11 June 2025 he signed a three-year deal with Galatasaray as a free agent.

With Germany, Sané has earned 80 caps and scored 18 goals. He was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals at Euro 2016, and he won the Confederations Cup in 2017, though a nasal surgery kept him out of that tournament itself. He also featured at Euro 2020, the 2022 World Cup, where Germany reached the quarter-finals, and Euro 2024, where the team again went out in the semi-finals.
