Match report
Galatasaray and Göztepe met at Rams Park on Friday evening in the third round of the Süper Lig. The hosts took three points from a five-goal encounter, ending 3-2. The result keeps them top of the table after three matches.
N. Miroshi opened the scoring for Göztepe in the sixteenth minute. To be fair, they looked dangerous in the opening exchanges. D. Sanchez equalised before half-time, finding the net in the thirty-third minute.
Gabriel Sara turned the game after the break. He scored in the fifty-fifth minute, putting Galatasaray ahead for good. By then the momentum had shifted.
Victor Osimhen doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the sixty-third minute. Juan added a fifth goal in the sixty-fifth minute with a quick counter. Osimhen had another chance in the sixty-seventh minute, though the goal was cancelled by VAR. Three substitutions came together in the sixty-fourth minute for Göztepe.
The statistics paint a picture of dominance. Galatasaray held 67 per cent possession and registered 29 shots, eleven on target. Their expected goals totalled 2.92, while Göztepe managed just 0.64. They created five big chances against one for the visitors. The visitors were more accurate with their shots, but that meant little against such a volume of attempts.
The seven points from three games leave Galatasaray clear at the summit. Göztepe sit in sixteenth place with a single point. The gap between them is now considerable.
