About the player
Marcus Fraser scored after two minutes of the 2025 League Cup final, on 14 December, and St. Mirren went on to beat Celtic 3–1 in the Premier Sports Cup. He joined Celtic's academy at eight and signed his first professional contract in 2010.
Celtic handed him a senior debut in 2011, but the first team stayed largely out of reach. He made one league appearance for the club and did not qualify for a medal in the league or cup triumphs of those years. In September 2014 he went on loan to Cowdenbeath, where he played 11 league games. Celtic released him in January 2015, and he signed for Ross County on a free transfer the same day.
He won the Scottish League Cup with Ross County in 2015–16. In 2018–19 the club won both the Scottish Championship and the Scottish Challenge Cup, and Fraser was named in the PFA Scotland Championship Team of the Year. He had become club captain in 2018. He left in June 2020 after turning down a new contract.
St. Mirren signed him in July 2020 on a one-year deal, and in May 2021 he agreed a two-year extension.
Fraser has played for Scotland at every youth level from under-16 to under-21. He has not yet won a senior cap.
