M. Hoffmann

Hoffmann's rise to the Austrian Bundesliga began well outside it. He came through the youth ranks at USV Halbturn in Burgenland before a spell in Rapid Wien's academy, then returned to Halbturn's senior side in September 2018, working his way up through the 1. Klasse and the Burgenlandliga. It was a long route through the lower tiers of Austrian football rather than a conventional academy path.

The breakthrough came in the 2023–24 season, when Hoffmann finished as top scorer in the Regionalliga with 18 goals in 25 matches for Halbturn. The form was enough to earn him a move to TSV Hartberg in July 2024, joining on a free transfer, though Halbturn retained a sell-on clause. He signed until 2026.

At Hartberg, Hoffmann has needed time to establish himself at the higher level. His first season in Austria's top flight, 2024–25, brought two goals, one in the Bundesliga and one in the Cup, followed by two more in 2025–26 as he settled into senior football. He has also contributed eight assists across his career. The current campaign has marked a step forward: as of September 2026, Hoffmann is tied for the Bundesliga's top scorer with three goals, a notable return for a player who was in the sixth tier of Austrian football only a few years earlier.

That trajectory, from Burgenlandliga football to a share of the Bundesliga scoring charts inside two seasons, remains the defining thread of his career so far.
