About the player
In March 2018, midway through his second loan at Slovan Liberec, Matěj Pulkrab reached 15 Czech First League career goals faster than anyone in the competition's history, overtaking marks held by Milan Baroš and Václav Kadlec. That season he had scored 10 league goals in 26 appearances for Liberec, adding five more in the Czech Cup for a total of 15.
Pulkrab came through Sparta Praha's academy, joining from FK Lety as a boy. He made his senior breakthrough at Sparta but spent long stretches away on loan, first at Liberec and later at Bohemians 1905. In the 2018/19 season he won both the Fortuna:Liga and the Czech Cup with the club. In December 2021, after scoring four goals in three matches including a hat-trick against Bohemians 1905, he was named MALL.CZ Player of the Month.
He left Sparta in 2022 for Sandhausen in Germany, where he spent a season in the 2. Bundesliga, scoring in the DFB-Pokal along the way. A return to Czech football followed at Mladá Boleslav, and in July 2025 he moved on a free transfer to Teplice, where he now wears the number 10 shirt.
Pulkrab has yet to add a senior cap for the Czech Republic to his extensive record at youth level.
