About the player
Maksat Taykenov spent one day without a club in the summer of 2025. On 29 June his contract with Zhetysu was terminated by mutual consent. The following day he signed for Kaspiy again, as a free agent, and he is in the club's squad for the 2026 season.
He played 12 league matches for Zhetysu before the contract ended.
Kaspiy is the club that defines his career. Across seven seasons he made 159 league appearances for the team from his home city of Aktau. The high point came in 2019, when Kaspiy took the silver medal in the Kazakhstan First Division and earned promotion to the Premier League.
His senior career began at Bayterek in Astana, where he played in 2015 and 2016 and made 32 league appearances.
Taykenov has also played for the Kazakhstan national team. His debut came on 4 September 2021 in a 2022 World Cup qualifier against Finland, which Kazakhstan lost 0–1. He won four caps, all of them in that qualifying campaign in 2021, and has not scored for the national side.
He has never been loaned out. Each of his moves, from Bayterek to Kaspiy and then to Zhetysu, was a free transfer.
